The piano has played a central role in my life from a young age. I worked through the ABRSM grades, and continued classical training at The Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin. It was here that I advanced my pianistic technique, broadened my musicianship and interpretative skills, and developed a real passion for teaching.
Shortly after completing my studies, I enrolled on the EPTA Piano Teachers’ Course to gain expertise from world-leading pianists and pedagogues. On attaining the Cert PTC with Merit, I made a commitment to become a first-rate, inspirational piano teacher.
I am a full professional member of the European Piano Teachers’ Association UK, and enjoy participating in regular CPD teacher training courses. I partake in masterclasses and have individual Taubman Approach tuition with a member of the Associate Faculty of The Golandsky Institute.
Having regular access to this vast body of knowledge enriches my own playing, allowing exceptional expression with physical ease and heightened awareness. My continuing piano studies enable me to guide each of my pupils toward a healthy, coordinate technique that allows the freedom in playing necessary to realise one’s highest potential.
In September 2021, I began the ITM Alexander Technique four-year Teacher Training Course, with the aim of gaining further knowledge and understanding of ease and awareness in movement and playing.
I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate, and have worked in two schools.
“I look forward to my piano lesson on Friday evening all week…finding out I had been awarded a distinction for grade 3 was one of the best moments of last year :)”
